This Viking disc brooch has two special features: firstly, only seven finds of such brooches are currently known – one in Cambridgeshire/England, two in Birka in Sweden, three from Denmark, and even one near Salzwedel in Germany. Further variations of this bronze Viking disc brooch have also been found in Ireland, Schleswig-Holstein, and Hamburg, which speaks to its high popularity and is proven by the high production and distribution of this Viking jewelry. Secondly, this Viking disc brooch shows the transition between the Jelling and Borre styles, which is rather rare and therefore historically very valuable.
The openwork bowl brooch shows classic Viking Age animal figures, and on the back of the Viking jewelry there is a solid pin approximately 1 mm thick.
