Our natural Viking & Germanic calling horn has intentionally not been polished to preserve its rustic and rough appearance. Therefore, the calling horn also has no mouthpiece, but a bore, just like those used by Vikings, Germanics, and other early medieval peoples. The calling horn was used in a variety of situations: as a war horn to direct troops, or by guards or night watchmen as a signal horn. It has a bore that serves as an early medieval mouthpiece. The general rule is: the larger the calling horn, the deeper the sound that can be produced from it. The sound is generated similarly to a trumpet: the air vibrates the lips, and the calling horn then amplifies the resulting sound accordingly, and as always, practice makes perfect. From our own experience, we recommend the small 0.7 l calling horn for beginners, and even larger signal horns are possible for you upon request. The natural Viking & Germanic calling horn, manufactured in Germany, is perfect for reenactment, the medieval market, for night watchmen on historical city tours, LARP, and medieval musicians.
