This delicate Viking Age belt buckle was handmade from sturdy bronze. This Viking belt buckle is a replica of a find from the Swedish island of Gotland from the 11th century, i.e. towards the end of the Viking Age. The buckle shows a simple knot pattern which corresponds to the Viking Age Ringerike style, was widely used in Viking times and is suitable for a 2 cm wide leather belt. As such finds prove, the back of such belt buckles had up to four pins of up to 8 mm in length. These are pushed through the leather, then carefully bent over at the tip and then flattened with a hammer. This belt buckle is perfect for Early Medieval reenactors and skilled craftsmen who prefer to make their own unique Viking Age equipment.
