Open Viking 'box' brooch pair in Oseberg style, made of bronze - Unique piece
This open Viking tortoise brooch in Oseberg style made of bronze is based on a find from the Early Middle Ages. The special feature of this tortoise brooch is its open design. Several Viking Age gripping beasts with loop and three-strand ornamentation in the famous Oseberg style can be seen on the tortoise brooch, showcasing the high craftsmanship of Viking metalworkers. On the underside of the brooch, there is an eyelet to attach a pearl necklace or similar, and the needle on the inside is strong enough to secure it to even thick fabrics. Tortoise brooches served throughout the Early Middle Ages to connect aprons and underdresses, which is why they were often used in pairs and are excellent as a gift and accessories for Viking reenactment, LARP, and medieval markets.
