This early medieval replica is a small Viking disc brooch from Birka in the Borre style made of sturdy bronze. Finds of disc brooches from the Viking Age have been made throughout Europe and prove the widespread use of this type of Viking jewelry. The original of this small disc brooch was found in Birka grave 967 and was originally made of gilded silver. It is now in the Swedish National Museum, Statens Historiska Museet in Stockholm. The shell brooch shows classic Viking Age animal faces in the Viking Age Borre style. On the back of the Viking jewelry there is a solid pin and an eyelet to attach a chain or a leather strap to the brooch. The small Viking disc brooch from Birka in Borre style is the perfect addition to your Viking garb and is suitable for fastening lighter garments in Viking reenactment, at a medieval market and in LARP.
