The Viking buckle Frøyland was handcrafted and is a replica of a rare grave find from Frøyland or Fryland in Rogaland, Norway. The male grave was part of a larger group of graves, and the finds can now be admired at the Stavanger Museum. Although it features a classic animal head depiction and could therefore be inspired by very early animal styles, recent research points to Ireland as its origin, but probably inspired by Viking art jewelry, which could explain the similarity. The Frøyland Viking buckle is suitable for a 3 cm wide leather belt or strap and is perfect for Early Medieval reenactors, Viking fans, and craft-talented individuals who prefer to make or embellish their own unique Viking Age equipment.
