The Viking buckle Frøyland was handcrafted and is a replica of a rare grave find from Frøyland, also known as Fryland, in Rogaland, Norway. The male grave was part of a larger group of graves, and the finds can now be admired at the Stavanger Museum. Although it features a classic animal head depiction and could therefore be inspired by an early animal style, more recent research points to Ireland as its origin, but probably inspired there by Viking artistic jewelry, which could explain the similarity. The Frøyland Viking buckle is suitable for a 3 cm wide leather belt or strap and is perfect for Early Medieval reenactors, Viking fans, and those with a craft inclination who prefer to make or embellish their own unique Viking Age equipment.
