This unique Viking key with a heart shape is a replica and was made of bronze. It is based on a historical find from an excavation near Sigtuna/Sweden and fits a bow lock. Keys for a bow lock have the peculiarity that they are only pulled through the lock and not turned; usually, these are smaller padlocks. This Viking key is dated to the 11th century, and thus the end of the Viking Age, and the heart embellishment suggests Eastern influences from the Rus or even the Orient, who, for example, used belt fittings with similar embellishments. The bronze replica of the Sigtuna Viking key is the perfect accessory for Viking reenactment, but also fits well at a medieval market or for LARP.
