This replica of a Viking disc brooch in the Borre style made of bronze is based on a Finnish find in Vestfold/Finland from the 10th century Viking Age. The Viking disc brooch in Borre style has a sturdy pin on the back to close or fasten the neckline of a tunic or a light cloak. Striking about this disc brooch are the four animal heads at the ends of what is probably an early Christian cross, undoubtedly proof of the Christianization of Scandinavia. These heads of Viking Age gripping beasts, together with the snake-like interlace bands, clearly demonstrate the fusion of pagan and Christian elements in Viking art and are absolutely typical of the Borre style of that time. This Viking disc brooch Vestfold made of bronze is ideal for Viking reenactment, the medieval market and, of course, Nordic characters in LARP.
