This pair of Viking oval brooches in the Borre style made of bronze, also known as tortoise brooches, are a part of Viking Age women's clothing and were made of robust bronze. Due to the depicted Borre style, they date to the 9th century and are based on a find from Karelia, Finland. On the inside, there is a sturdy needle that can also be used to fasten strong and heavy fabrics. Brooches of this type have existed since the Vendel Period, and in Viking clothing, they connected the apron to an underdress, which is why they were used in pairs. This pair of Borre-style oval brooches made of bronze is perfectly suited for Early Medieval reenactment, LARP, and the medieval market.
