This handmade piece of bronze jewelry was originally brought to Scandinavia from the Frankish Empire in the 8th century as a clover-shaped strap distributor through trade. There, it was soon repurposed as a brooch and adapted to the local jewelry style. This brooch, similar to the famous tortoise brooches, was exclusively found in women's graves, such as in Birka. Loops on the back make it possible to attach decorative chains, making this brooch a perfect piece of bronze jewelry for Viking reenactment and LARP.
