This handmade piece of jewelry made of bronze was originally brought to Scandinavia from the Frankish Empire in the 8th century as a clover-shaped strap distributor through trade. There, it was soon repurposed into a brooch and adapted to the local jewelry style. This brooch, similar to the famous box brooch, was exclusively found in women's graves, such as in Birka. Loops on the back allow decorative chains to be attached, making this brooch perfect bronze jewelry for Viking reenactment and LARP.
