This Viking spectacle helmet with aventail, also known as a Vendel helmet or Nordic ridge helmet, is based on finds from the Viking Age and is fully suitable for re-enactment combat. The skull of the Viking spectacle helmet consists of two welded helmet parts which, as usual, are reinforced by overlapping, riveted strips. The spectacles were made from two robust steel plates, riveted to the helmet, and extend below the nose. An aventail made of unriveted spring steel rings is attached to the helmet rim and spectacles, protecting the neck and throat. The high-quality and adjustable padded lining has a robust leather chin strap and is closed with a brass buckle. This Viking spectacle helmet with aventail is suitable for re-enactors and depictions from the Vendel Age from the 6th century to the end of the Viking Age in the 10th century, and of course also for re-enactment combat.
