The Viking Age earring Moesgard Mask was handcrafted from fine silver. The original is the famous mask stone from Aarhus, which was discovered in 1850 and dated to the year 1000. On the original runestone, runes and a mask-like face can be seen, which was probably meant to provide protection against evil spirits. In the runic inscription, 4 Vikings commemorate their companion who fell in a battle of kings.
