Our haubergeon, often referred to as a small chainmail shirt, is a hip-length, half-sleeve chainmail armor. These were already common in antiquity among Celts and Romans and were worn by Vikings up to the Late Middle Ages. Each individual ring consists of robust spring steel and was connected in the classic 4-in-1 weave and not riveted. Thus, this chainmail shirt is a perfect mix of price-performance and quality-protection and is particularly suitable for beginners, LARP, and medieval reenactors. For fighters in Buhurt (full contact), free fighting, and HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) where protection is much more important, we recommend the riveted variants in our online shop.
To determine the size, we recommend putting on all undergarments that will later be worn under the chainmail (gambeson, padded doublet, etc.) and adding approx. 10 cm.
Material: Spring Steel
Inner ring diameter: approx. 8 mm
Ring thickness: 1.6 mm
