This early medieval Merovingian Amulet Cloisonné was handcrafted from bronze. The replica of the so-called cloisonné amulet got its name from the manufacturing technique of the same name, which was very popular among the nobles and wealthy people of the Early Middle Ages. The original amulet was found along with other loot in a Viking treasure in 1875 on the Hoen farm in Norway and was dated to the 9th century. The amulet itself, however, is much older and dates from the Merovingian period. Unlike the historical original, the replica is not designed with real almandine cloisonné, but with red glass flux and is not made of gold, but hand-cast in bronze, but corresponds to the original dimensions. The Merovingian Amulet Cloisonné is perfect for Early Medieval reenactment by Franks, Anglo-Saxons or Vikings and is also suitable for LARP and everyday wear.
