What provisions were available to them? What foods did they know and how did they prepare them? Based on 15th and 16th-century Renaissance sources, the book ultimately offers over 50 recipes that were familiar to the Landsknechts and nourished them in good times or lean. Each original recipe comes with instructions for preparation in the modern kitchen.
The author Volker Bach has been active in Living History for twenty years. Culinary history has particularly fascinated him since his studies of history and English. In addition to his work as a language teacher and translator, he gives historical cooking courses. This is his first German-language book.
