Crusader Great Helm 13th Century - Replica

This replica of a High Medieval Crusader great helm is known and documented through medieval depictions from the famous Westminster Psalter. This Crusader great helm dates from the time of the Crusades in the 12th to 13th centuries and marks the transition from the skullcap with visor plate to the so-called great helms. The great helm was handcrafted from rusting steel and decorated with a cross and a crown made of brass. The eye slits and the ten large, vertical cut-outs in the cheek area provide the necessary air circulation when wearing the great helm. The Crusader helmet was joined together with steel rivets and blackened on the inside. The high-quality and adjustable leather inlay has a robust leather chin strap and is closed with a brass buckle.

This Crusader great helm is perfect for reenactors and depictions of the 12th and 13th centuries, but NOT for combat.
