Early Medieval Damascus Steel Knife Blade for DIY Knife Making
The small Early Medieval knife blade for DIY knife making from Damascus steel was hand-forged with 256 layers! The sharpened knife blade made of genuine Damascus steel is based on historical examples from the Viking city of Birka and is therefore perfect for making an authentic Viking knife. The Damascus blade was forged from two different types of steel: AISI 4340 is a hard quenched and tempered steel that has a low carbon content, contains molybdenum in addition to nickel and chromium, and has high toughness, and 15N20 is a nickel-containing steel with good properties that creates beautiful bright sections and good contrasts when processed in Damascus steel. Both steels together result in the beautifully flamed Damascus steel. The tang, the so-called "Erl," is intended for attachment to a wooden handle, bone handle, or other handles into which it is inserted. The Early Medieval knife blade made of Damascus is ideal for DIY knife makers and craftsmen and Early Medieval reenactment.
