This bronzed and hand-painted figure shows Freya as a shieldmaiden and leader of the Valkyries from the Nordic pantheon of the Vanir, but she is also known as the goddess of love, marriage, and magic. Freya is also correctly called Freyja in Old Norse and lives in Fólkvangr, the Field of Hosts. Freya is accompanied by two wildcats that pull her chariot when she retrieves the Einherjar from the battlefields for Odin. Freya wears the most famous necklace in Norse mythology, the Brisingamen, an amber necklace made by dwarves.
