This detailed replica of an early medieval Frankish disc brooch from a grave find in Aschheim, Southern Germany, was handcrafted from robust bronze. The original disc brooch was made of partially gilded silver with four left-facing, spirally arranged bird of prey heads with almandine cloisonné and was dated to the 6th century of the Early Middle Ages. On the back of the Frankish brooch is a sturdy pin with a coil spring, which gives the pin good tension, and an eyelet for attaching chain connectors or pearl chains.
