This large early medieval Frankish amulet is a so-called disc amulet. It was handcrafted from bronze based on an archaeological find and is a so-called replica. The replica, the so-called Zierscheibe von Limons was probably made in a Frankish jewelry workshop between the end of the 6th century and the first quarter of the 7th century during the Early Middle Ages. The original, made of gold with genuine Amalden cloisonné and garnet inlays and now exhibited in the Cabinet des Médailles of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the replica is made of affordable bronze and red glass paste. The jewelry style of this Frankish disc amulet is known as Animal Style II, which bears strong resemblances to the art style of the later Viking Age. This Frankish disc amulet Limons is perfect for Early Medieval Reenactment or portrayal of Franks, Anglo-Saxons, or LARP.
