This florin, often referred to as a gulden in Western Europe, saw its major resurgence in the 14th century of the Middle Ages. Until then, there had been no significant gold coinage in Europe since Roman times. King John of Bohemia had a gold gulden minted in Prague with the depiction of a Florentine lily on one side and John the Baptist on the other side of the coin.
This replica of a John of Bohemia florin is made from robust brass and closely matches the original in terms of dimensions and weight. This replica of a gold gulden is therefore ideal for medieval reenactment but also fits perfectly into LARP.
