She is considered Frigg's handmaiden, and her task is to cure her of any illness, as she is the best healer among the Aesir. Eir is also said to teach women in Midgard the art of healing, showing them which herbs are effective against certain diseases and how to best treat wounds. The Naudiz rune is attributed to Eir.
