This replica of a Viking Age decorative bead is based on finds from the Early Middle Ages. Decorative beads like this were crafted using elaborate granulation techniques in bronze, silver, and also gold, and were highly coveted as jewelry and trade goods. The granulated beads were soldered onto the bead using tiny spheres or very fine wires in painstaking detail. This replica is cast in one piece but excellently represents the high craftsmanship of the Vikings.
