This authentic replica of the Viking crucifix from Birka is probably the oldest depiction of Christ in the Nordic region of Europe. The original silver cross, unfortunately not precisely dated, was found in the grave of a wealthy woman in Uppland, in the former Viking trading metropolis of Birka. Nearly identical crucifixes were also found in Ketting and Nyborg, Denmark, which suggests local production and origin and dates to the period of the Christianization of the Vikings, thus rather towards the end of the Viking Age. This crucifix is ideal for Viking reenactment and fans, but also fits in at medieval markets and LARP.
