This massive Viking belt buckle was handmade from robust bronze and is suitable for 4 cm wide straps. The belt buckle is a replica of a find from the Swedish island of Gotland from the 11th century, thus rather from the end of the Viking Age. The buckle shows a simple knot pattern corresponding to the Viking Age Borre style, which was widespread in Viking times and is suitable for a 2 cm wide leather belt. As such finds prove, the back of such belt buckles had up to four pins up to 8 mm long. These are driven through the leather, then carefully bent over at the tip and then hammered flat. This belt buckle is perfect for Early Medieval reenactors and skilled craftsmen who prefer to make their own unique Viking Age equipment.
