This massive Viking belt end piece was handcrafted from robust bronze. The belt end piece is a replica of a find from the Swedish island of Gotland, dating from the 11th century, the end of the Viking Age. The belt end piece features a classic knot pattern consistent with the well-known Viking Borre style. As such finds show, the back of these belt buckles had up to four pins of up to 8 mm in length. These were driven through the leather, then carefully bent over at the tip and then hammered flat. This belt buckle is perfect for early medieval reenactors and those with craft skills who prefer to make their own unique Viking Age equipment.
