This hand-forged medieval chain flail, also known as a battle flail or war flail, is the classic weapon of medieval infantry, which developed in the 12th century from the peasant threshing flail. Since simple farmers and common people knew how to handle a threshing flail, not much training was needed to prepare them for combat.
