The gold treasure of Hiddensee probably dates from the 10th century of the Early Middle Ages and combines pagan symbolism, such as the raptor's head, with the first Christian influences in Scandinavia. A side opening on the head allows the Hiddensee pendant to be worn with a leather strap or chain.
