Small Hussite Heller with Crown in Pewter - Replica
The small Hussite Heller with crown made of pewter is a replica of the smallest Bohemian coin of the Late Middle Ages. The medieval reproduction was made using a hand-engraved die and corresponds in appearance and size to the original, with the special feature of being only single-sided.
Despite its tiny dimensions, the Hussite Heller is a symbol of power and an important message in one. The obverse bears a single, yet crucial, symbol: Wenceslas' crown. It is the symbol of the Bohemian state and its heavenly patron St. Wenceslas, an emblem that united the country and was valid throughout the kingdom. The reverse of the coin is smooth to reduce costs and enable quick and mass production for the needs of the common people. Accordingly, the value of the Heller was 1/14 of a Prague Groschen. For that, one could buy the most basic daily necessities, a few eggs, a piece of cheese, or perhaps accommodation in the poorest inn. The original Hellers were minted in the royal mint in Kuttenberg from mostly low-grade silver.
The replica of the small Hussite Heller with crown made of pewter is ideal for reenactment, cosplay, and as a collector's item for medieval fans!
