Sleipnir is known in Germanic mythology as the eight-legged horse of the god Wotan. His name means "the one who glides along," and depictions of Sleipnir can be found on the Tjängvide rune and picture stone. Incidentally, there is also a Sleipnir statue made of steel in the town of Thale in the Harz mountains.
